Jax Framing was created by the owner, Jack Maedke, around the turn of the century. Jack's vision of a framing shop materialized after examining several art galleries in Door County and learning more about the demand for quality, framed artwork. As an Air Force navigator of 28 years, Jack's success as an aviator was largely dependent upon the precision of the aviation charts which he constructed, which allowed no margin for error. Realizing that picture matting and framing demanded the same type of precision, Jack realized he was already qualified, and a picture framing business would put his studio/workshop to perfect use, allowing him to be his own boss and finally utilize his marketing major!
